    TRAVERTINE.
    THE SPECIMEN IS
    APPROXIMATELY 12 X 9 X 6 cm
    .  IT
    WEIGHS 377.6 gm.
    THE SPECIMEN IS FROM THE
    SOUTHWEST END OF THE BLACK ROCK DESERT, NEAR GERLACH, WASHOE CO., NEVADA.
    TRAVERTINE IS A SEDIMENTARY ROCK FORMED BY HOT-SPRINGS AND IS COMPOSED OF CALCIUM CARBONATE.  THIS DEPOSIT RESULTED FROM A HOT-SPRING ON THE SHORELINE OF PLEISTOCENE LAKE LAHONTAN.  THIS IS AN
